"He is not here: for he is risen, as he said." (Matthew 28:6, NIV) In the days leading up to Easter, Vita Nova students experienced the final events in the earthly life of Jesus in unique ways. They washed each other's feet as Jesus washed the feet of His disciples before the Last Supper, encouraging them to do likewise. They enjoyed a special meal in remembrance of the Last Supper, and Good Friday was an actual holiday in which school was not in session. On the Monday after Easter, Steve Perkins, one of our parents and a member of the board, presented the fictional character Publius Sempronius Tuditanus, one of the guards at the tomb of Jesus. Our students saw through the eyes of this Roman soldier the events leading up to the crucifixion of Jesus and the details of His resurrection.
